When discussing the FCX certification with friends and colleagues, one of the inevitable questions that comes up is how many FCX’s are there? Unfortunately there isn’t any official list available to the public, so when this question gets asked it usually leads to some amateur sleuthing around LinkedIn and Google to find the most recent FCX announcement post, which hopefully lists their number. From there, you subtract 3072 from the number (the number that they started the FCX numbering at) and you get a rough estimate as to how many there are in the world.

The question comes up often enough that I figured I would spend a bit of time gathering as much information that I could from public sources to give me a statistically significant sample size that I could use to estimate some stats. Through my sleuthing on LinkedIn and Google I was able to compile a list of 243 known FCX’s from across the world and determine some base facts about them such as what company they work for and what country they are from. I was also able to find the most recent (at the time of writing) FCX pass with his number listed.

So, to help satiate some curiosity, here is what I was able to surmise:

 Where are these FCX’s anyway?

A geographic representation of FCX locations
A bar chart of FCX numbers per country

From my data there are 52 countries across the world who can claim to be home to an FCX.

Hang on, specifically how many per country are there?

Ok, ok, ok. If you want specifics, here are the actual numbers per country that I was able to find:

How many FCX’s work at Fortinet compared with other companies??

Out of my sample size of 243 FCX’s, 103 of them (42%) work at Fortinet. This suggests that just under half of all FCX’s in the world work at Fortinet.
The rest of the FCX professionals in my sample are spread across another 121 companies. This ratio has changed over the past 2 years, reducing from a previous high of 48% which is showing an increase in engagement with the expert certification from the general public.
As of January 2026, Business Communications Inc in the United States of America has the 2nd most FCX’s in the world, with Sidarion AG in Switzerland coming in third. Of course the company with the most FCX’s is Fortinet.

Seriously, How many FCX’s are there??

The latest FCX I could find on the internet had a number of 3511. The numbering for the FCX starts at 3072 which means at the time of writing there are at least 439 FCX’s in the world.

*These numbers were last updated 13th January 2026

Anything jump out at you from the data?

One thing I found amusing, was that out of the FCX’s I was able to find – three of them work at Palo Alto Networks.

There is an average of ~45 people passing the FCX each year, however in 2023 the number who passed was approx. 22, and in 2024 the number was 37. I find this odd since the exam is now remote and in theory should be more accessible. As time goes on Ill continue to collect statistics and Ill be able to see if the numbers recover to pre-remote levels!
2025 is now the record year, with 70 new FCX’s that I have data on for the year. Knowing the numbers from the previous year and from this year, the most this could increase to is 72. This is a massive increase from the prior year, and I believe it was spurred on by the announcement of a new revision of the exam – forcing people to “bite the bullet” and sit the exam they had been studying for.
Congratulations to everyone who passed in 2025 and welcome to the exclusive club of the NSE8 / FCX!

Ill continue to check back on these figured periodically (every 6 months or so) and update them as this is a topic of interest to me. Ill update the date within the post when I have updated the content. If you think I have missed your country off the list, if you could send me a message on LinkedIn I’ll be sure to add it to my dataset – I have been doing this more frequently – thank you to everyone who has reached out.

Anyway, I hope you have found this post interesting. It would be great to see an official blog post from Fortinet at some point showing these stats from the full dataset. I’d love to know how far off I am. Thanks for reading!
